Paul Beckwith
“I would love to say I’ve always felt embodied, but that simply would not be true. Growing up I had a love/hate relationship with my body; loved becoming a First Team All-American in ice hockey, hated having countless injuries and numerous surgeries. Even after hockey continuing this cycle of constantly being told to perform while feeling disembodied, where my surroundings engulfed my circumstances."
Functional movement, yoga and meditation have kept me aware by informing my body of proper structure and stability leading to new patterns, new insights and helping release things that no longer serve me. Taking this love/hate relationship I have grown to mediate and empower others. Finding the mediation within myself led me to finding a love of teaching to empower students to manipulate their time and space. Finding time in their breath, space in their body, leading to empowerment in their minds. Using meditation, imagination, metaphor, humor and Taoist philosophy to potentiate empowerment in the classroom.”
Paul regularly hosts workshops, retreats, and training programs in the U.S. and internationally. He would not be where he is today without the guidance and attention of his teachers and mentors Nevine Michaan, Dages Juvelier Keates and Michael Torrant.
