Felicia fell in love with yoga in 2012 after she reached her breaking point battling pain from endometriosis. "I really started listening to my body during practices and was able to find a deep connection with my breath and movements. Now I listen to my pain, and instead of ignoring it and pushing it aside, I use it as my fire!" She loved classes that allowed her to create her own expressions and explore the practice further. This playful curiosity and respect for the practice itself brought her to Yoga Teacher Training under the instruction of Diana Vitantonio in Summer/Fall of 2016, in addition to guidance from a handful of yoga instructors in the Cleveland area (including many from Harmony Studios).
Felicia's classes are joyful, inspiring, and welcoming to all. She will guide you to finding your own breath and movements by using music and personal writings. In no time you will be calling your mat "home." See you there!
Felicia Hilscher instructs the following:
This class is great for balancing out the more intense yang styles of yoga we often practice (i.e. Power and Vinyasa Yoga) designed to literally open the body up, creating strength, length and healing deep in the joints, ligaments, and tendons. Yin poses typically focus on hips, pelvis, lower spine and are held for longer times (3-5 minutes). This allows you to get beyond muscle, targeting connective tissues and the fascia that cover the body. Practicing Yin Yoga regularly will help to improve flexibility, stamina, and the body’s natural range of motion. Yin yoga is a simple, quiet practice, but – make no mistake – it is not always an easy or comfortable one. One of the leading teachers of Yin yoga, Bernie Clark, says: “Yin Yoga is not meant to be comfortable; it will take you well outside your comfort zone. Much of the benefit of the practice will come from staying in this zone of discomfort, despite the mind’s urgent pleas to leave.”
Suitable for all levels of yogis. Beginners welcome! / Balancing classes: Vinyasa – All Levels, Power Vinyasa, Hour of Power, Deep Stretch Vinyasa, Slow Burn, Sculpt, BUTI Sculpt, BUTI Yoga
Yin Yoga with Reiki
Yin Yoga is a passive practice that allows you to sink into your joints, ligaments, tendons, fascia and mind. A great counter to any "yang" practice (power vinyasa, crossfit, boxing, power lifting, etc.), yin poses are often done on the floor and held for 3-5 minutes. Although a quiet practice by nature, yin poses will certainly bring out your body's voice urging you to really tune in and stay connected to yourself. Seated twists will open up energy meridians and hip openers will release any built up tension and emotion. Reiki is a system based on universal energy. This hands-on technique of healing allows energy to flow freely removing any blockages that may be causing emotional or physical pain.
So what can you expect from this Friday evening workshop? Your energy will be moved by the physical yin postures as well as Reiki healing. An introduction into Yin Yoga and Reiki will be given (so no need to fret if you're new to Yin, Reiki, or both!). Felicia (a Level II Reiki Practitioner), will guide you through a 75-minute Yin practice as she provides Reiki to each person (picture yourself with your legs up the wall and your head cradled by a heated ball of energy!). Expect to feel a release during the practice and leave feeling rejauvenated! Bringing a pen and journal is always welcomed! It's a great way to leave your week behind and ring in the weekend!
Note: if you enjoyed Yoga Nidra this class is the right fit for you!
